Proven Benefits of Using Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is one of those "around the house" items that we don't think much about. A few years ago, coconut oil replaced typical kitchen oils because it was healthier and seemed a more practical choice. Coconut oil can be purchased almost anywhere, from grocery stores to department stores to specialty stores. It doesn't matter if you're interested in premium brands or simply finding a product that actually works, coconut oil is the answer. Yes, many of the companies you know and love have seen the demand. They have launched their own coconut oil products to keep customers satisfied.

It's only natural that we'd keep looking for additional ways to use this miracle oil. Hair & skin care is where the market really got footing. If you have oily skin, you may be thinking "that's ridiculous". Is coconut oil good for skin? Why would you apply oil to reduce oil? It doesn't make sense! But that doesn't change the fact that it works. Along with reducing acne and oils, coconut oil has benefits for the skin.

If you don't know what all the fuss is about, it's time to learn! Let's take a look at some of the other uses for coconut oil:

Skin moisturizer; This applies to your face, your appendages, even your hands! By rubbing a small amount of coconut oil into your skin, you can help hydrate your skin cells and encourage healthier skin. You can also use coconut oil on chapped lips to reduce the irritation and provide much-needed moisture. You can also use the oil on skin burns or diaper rash. The natural properties of coconut oil provide instant relief from the burning & irritation. Those who suffer from conditions like eczema & psoriasis can greatly benefit from keeping this oil handy. Since it is natural, there is almost no risk of an unwanted reaction (unless you have an unknown allergy).

Cleanser; Coconut oil provides a deep cleanse for your skin. This can help to clear bacteria out of your pores, similar to an acne remedy would. However, coconut oil is completely natural and most acne treatments are not. Along with clearing out your pores, this oil is known to protect your skin from a bacteria build-up as well. This means you won't need to do a deep cleanse as often. It is also possible to fight fungal infections by using coconut oil. This means you can clear up those nasty cold sores by using a bit of coconut oil.

Anti-Aging; Another amazing benefit of coconut oil is that it can reduce the signs of aging. For this, the product has to be used regularly. Most people apply it to the face tissue right before bed so it has the maximum time to sink into the skin. The oil can reduce the amount of wrinkles present, as well as tighten the skin. This causes a more youthful look. This is particularly helpful to those who are concerned about showing signs of premature aging. Crows feet can be a thing of the past with a dash of coconut oil each night!

Hair repair; Hair can become damaged for a number of reasons. They range from biological (parents, genetics) to environmental (dyeing, sun exposure, poor hygiene) to chemical (vitamin deficency). Coconut oil is making a name in the hair care industry because it helps to hydrate the hair without any risks. You can use the product long-term or short-term. You don't have to worry about keeping it tucked away because there are no chemicals in the product. Various other benefits have been noted when it comes to coconut oil for hair. These benefits include increased hair growth, reduced balding and hair loss in general, reduced damage over long-term usage, a base for dyeing hair, and even protection from lice (right?!). The natural properties of coconut oil help to heal the scalp of any damage that has been done. Although you're not supposed to apply the coconut oil for hair directly to the scalp! It's not necessarily bad if you do, it just doesn't work quite as well. If you have any irritation on your scalp (from dye or bleach) it can be extremely useful.

If you like being crafty, you have even more options! You can use coconut oil to create your own body products. These range from oils, scrubs & butter to deodorant! A few other uses of coconut oil for the skin is in place of massage oil, as a shaving gel and as a cuticle oil for nail care.

The best thing about coconut oil is the versatility. It can be used on babies and animals the same way it can be used on you! That's pretty important when it comes to any care products. You can use it in the kitchen, as a cleaning agent!

Only a small amount of people have ever had a negative reaction to coconut oil for hair. These individuals likely had an allergy to the oil itself.
