I Have A Few Opinions To Share

I've been listening to a lot of stuff going on in the media. I try and avoid politics because my country doesn't allow free speech and I have to be careful what I say. That can be debated by other people, but I won't bother with my thoughts on th surveillance state we're all living in. But there are some opinions that are BURSTING out of me.

I never like the argument that mental illness can be the sole cause of mindless acts. Mental illness can explain why you forget to answer texts or get angry with your spouse over a fucking dream. It's not an excuse to hurt other people. Ever. The only mental illness that I'm willing to debate is schizophrenia. I have borderline, DID, PTSD, MDD, anxiety, and panic attacks. I used to suffer from anger issues too. None of those diagnosis are a reason to hurt another person. Period. Even with mental illnesses, people need to be held accountable for the actions they take. But more, they need to be held accountable for the actions they didn't take. There are always options. Always. Postpartum psychosis is an awful thing that many mothers struggle with. It does not excuse those mothers from facing justice for their actions. Period.

I watch a lot of body cams. COPS is my soundtrack when I'm writing these days. The amount of people who blame their shitty behavior on mental illnesses is astonishing. It's not an excuse. It's a contributing factor, of which there are usually many.

Boys Will Be Boys

There has been a lot of talk on the internet about the phrase "boys will be boys". I feel like there are times that statement is accurate. Behavior that only puts the boy at immediate risk and doesn't impact anyone else? Boys will be boys. Examples of this include: precariously balancing a ladder, playing football on a jet ski, fencing in the lake... Stuff like that. That is the only time it's appropriate to just shrug and say that boys will be boys. We all know those boys. These are the ones that make the statistics and often invent new ways to die. They may also be the reason there are warning labels on everything. It's a lack of common sense, but it's excusable to a certain age.

There are some things "boys will be boys" doesn't apply to. Like rape.

The problem with this is that it's a story as old as time and it's always the Ivy League schools. They always protect the "future" of their male scholars with no regard to the future of their female scholars. If you've never been sexually assault, you have no idea how long you carry that with you. If you have, you have empathy. A sexual assault can last 3 minutes and be carried for LIFE. It takes therapy and drugs and an understanding social network to start chipping away at the iceberg that is that burden. "Carry The Weight" is an amazing protest because it gives a real-life example, something physical and tangible that other people can see. Because you don't SEE what a sexual assault does to someone. Male and female alike. I'm not suggesting men aren't raped. I assume just as many of these stupid fucking frat boys rape their brothers too as part of some pledge week. This has been going on for DECADES and the Ivy League schools just sweep it under the rug. There are NEVER repercussions for these perpetrators. There are ALWAYS consequences for the victims.

How long is this going to go on before it's finally stopped? Maybe the solution is taking away the funding from the Ivy League schools. It seems to me that most of these stories come from Ivy League schools, not community colleges or state-funded institutions. I could be wrong, and I'm happy to debate that. When does it end? Teach your boys to treat everyone with respect. Teach your girls that they can ask for help. Follow through. There needs to be consequences for certain behaviors.

I can't even believe in 2026 we are still victim-shaming. It is NEVER THE VICTIM'S FAULT.

This is an old story and I don't really have much to add to it. I feel like she should have faced an animal endangerment charge x3. She put both the cats at risk and she bought a spider with the sole intention of throwing it down a flight of stairs with a bunch of sharp objects. No one seems to focus on the mistreatment of those animals because everyone is distracted by how crazy Marissa seems. I can't believe people like this even exist. I mean, she really thought she was right. The sheer arrogance is beyond comprehension. Who the fuck does this chick think she is? I'm glad she lost. I hope she never gets a seat of power because she can't even manage what's going on in her own head.

That's a symptom of a larger problem among people who live on social media and film everything. Everyone wants to "go viral". They are so desperate to be acknowledged that they put other people at risk. It is never okay to put someone else's safety and well-being at risk. Why is that so hard for the majority of human beings to understand? Social media showcases the worst of them. I know out in the real world, there is still kindness and purity and devotion and truth. The internet is a black hole.
