Chapter 17 (+18)

On Saturday, Anne let Hayden come over after Brent left for hockey. She stayed back with the younger kids. She sent Hayden and Rob down into the basement. As soon as they were down the stairs, Rob turned around and started kissing her. She playfully pushed him backwards. He tripped and fell into the pile on laundry that was always at the bottom of the basement stairs. Hayden laughed, heading into the recreational space. There was an old couch, an old TV, and the Sega game system. Hayden dropped down on the couch.

“Is this how you’ve been spending your time?” She motioned to the screen. Rob nodded as he walked over to her.

“Mom’s keeping me down here like she’s ashamed.” He sighed. Hayden nodded.

“At least she didn’t ground you completely.” She offered. Rob shrugged.

“I didn’t do anything wrong.” He reminded her. She raised her eyebrow, motioning for him to sit down beside her. He tried to sit down casually, but he failed. He immediately kissed her. She didn’t resist.

“I’ve missed you so much.” He moaned against her lips.

“I know.” She nodded. He put his hand on the back of her head and held her in place while he took her mouth prisoner. She moaned into his kiss, tightly grabbing his t-shirt. His hand dropped to her back and he pulled her into his lap. She giggled as she positioned herself to straddle him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her tightly against his body. She kissed him slowly as she put both her hands flat on his chest. She adjusted slightly and he let out a soft moan. Hayden smiled and pressed down into him. He gasped, dropping his head back against the couch. Hayden slowly rocked in his lap. When he finally looked at her, his eyes were darker than she had ever seen them. He flipped her onto her back and positioned himself above her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his lips back to hers. He took that as his invitation to grind against her. She moaned, trying to muffle it against his shoulder. One of his hands gripped her hip as he picked up his pace.

“Rob, what if we get caught?” Hayden finally choked out. Rob shook his head.

“I don’t care. I’m too far gone.” He grunted. Hayden nodded as she kissed him again. He dropped his head into the crease of her neck. She ran one of her hands through his hair. He pressed into her harder and let himself go over the edge. He collapsed on top of her.

“Fuck.” He spat. Hayden smiled, draping one of her legs over his back. She ran her fingers through his hair again as he rested his head on her chest.

“You’re amazing.” He complimented. Hayden smiled.

“It would be better without clothes I think.” She hinted. Rob looked up at her.

“You still want to be with me? Like, for real?” He questioned. Hayden rolled her eyes.

“I already said that.” She groaned. Rob grabbed her face with both hands and kissed her deeply. There was a loud cough from the staircase. Hayden pulled back to see Anne. She had her arms crossed over her chest and she was tapping her foot. She motioned for Hayden to follow. Hayden faked a smile in Rob’s direction, then followed his mother back upstairs.

“Walk around the block before you go home. Your lips are swollen.” Anne instructed. Hayden nodded as she left the house. She couldn’t stop smiling, even if she got in trouble.

Hayden went to the park for half an hour before she headed home. She made sure to check her reflection as soon as she walked into her house. Her lips didn’t appear swollen to her. Maybe Anne was wrong. She didn’t know why her lips would be swollen anyway.

“Rob’s been calling for you.” Her father hollered from the kitchen. Hayden waved and headed downstairs. There was a phone in the basement, on the same phone line. Hayden had barely changed when Rob called again. This time, she answered the phone.

“Hello.” She greeted. Rob let out a deep sigh.

“I was worried.” He informed her. She raised her eyebrow.

“Why?” She questioned.

“It’s been like an hour and it only takes 5 minutes to get home from here.” He explained. She laughed.

“Your mother told me that my lips were swollen.” She noted.

“She said the same thing to me. She says that happens if you’re kissing.” He chuckled.

“Oh God.” Hayden felt so embarrassed.

“So she gave me the talk about sex.” Rob added. Hayden’s eyes went wide.

“No way!” She argued.

“Yeah. She also gave me a box of condoms.” He laughed.

“For what?” Hayden asked.

“Safe sex. They protect against diseases and accidental pregnancies. She says they aren’t 100% though. Abstinence is the best protection is what the pamphlet says.” Rob explained. Hayden laughed.

“Yeah, that would be pretty effective I think.” She mocked. Rob also laughed.

“And really boring.” She added. Rob’s laughter faded.

“What’s wrong?” Hayden quickly asked.

“Nothing. It’s just, you’re more experienced, and,” He paused.

“I’m afraid I won’t measure up. I don’t want to disappoint you.” He confessed. Hayden smiled to herself, shaking her head.

“I have no experience with men. It’s all different. It’s all new. I have no expectations because I don’t know what I’m supposed to expect. I’m on the same journey as you, Rob.” She assured. He sighed.

“So you won’t bail if I suck?” He asked softly. Hayden couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“Hey, we’re not rushing into anything. We’re going to take this slow. I promised.” She reminded him.

“Can we do that again sometime?” He asked. Hayden could hear the devious smile on his face.

“Absolutely.”

The next time Hayden was able to see Rob was Wednesday after school. Anne insisted they stay in the dining room. Hayden was over to catch Rob up on his homework.

“When are you back?” She asked, unable to hide her smile. Rob smiled too.

“They said I can come back on Monday.” He boasted. Hayden nodded.

“It’ll be nice to have you around again.” She hinted. He put his hand on top of Hayden’s, which was sitting on the table. Anne leaned around the corner.

“Hands to yourself.” She hollered. Rob rolled his eyes.

“Jessica admitted she was lying mom.” He groaned. Hayden laughed.

“You can’t blame her for being worried about you.” She scolded.

“It will be nice to not feel like I have a babysitter all the time.” He shrugged. Hayden nodded.

“There had to be an upside to spending the extra time with your mom.” She tried reasoning.

“If I felt like she believed me, maybe. But she’s been treating me like she doesn’t trust me all of a sudden.” He complained. Hayden bit the side of her lip.

“Rob, I think that’s because of us.” She whispered. Rob raised his eyebrow.

“I mean, she’s been suspicious for a while. Her suspicions were confirmed. She’s wondering what else we never told her.” She tried to explain. Rob was quiet.

“I guess.” He answered. She could hear his defeat. She gently kicked him under the table.

“Rob?” She cooed. He smirked, looking back up at her. She smiled widely.

“There we go. You keep disappearing on me.” She whined. He nodded.

“I’m sorry.” His apology was hollow. She could tell he still wasn’t present. She leaned forward. She brought her hand under the table and slowly caressed his thigh. He jumped.

“What are you thinking about?” She asked softly. He slowly shook his head.

“How much I want to kiss you.” He mumbled. Hayden smiled.

“I know. I’ve been thinking the same thing. Your lips are so soft I could just fall into them.” She whispered. Rob let out a deep sigh.

“I want you so bad.” He groaned, dropping his head back.

“I don’t hear studying.” Anne yelled from her bedroom.

“How would you hear studying mom?” Rob rolled his eyes. Brent came stomping in the front door, providing a brief distraction from the tension that was building in the room. Rob took advantage and grabbed Hayden’s hand underneath the table. He squeezed it gently, then let it drop. She smiled as she looked back over at him. He was such a perfect human being.

“I love you Robbie.” Hayden blurted. Rob’s eyes went wide as he looked over at Brent. Brent froze and started walking towards the dining room. Rob looked down at the table as he approached.

“Don’t leave her hanging, Robbie.” Brent teased. Hayden rolled her eyes as she got up from the table. Rob quickly stood up and grabbed her hand. She spun around and he pulled her into his arms. He leaned down and kissed her softly.

“I love you too Hayden. I’m not ashamed, just stunned.”

Brent was relentlessly teasing the couple until Hayden left a few minutes later. She called Rob as soon as she got home just to talk. After half an hour, Brent had asked 3 times if he was still on the phone with his girlfriend. He was being even more immature than Hayden thought he’d be. It made no sense to her. Brent was basically bullying them at this time point. Hayden tried not to let it bother her. Rob could sense that there was something on her mind. She needed to work through that for herself before she’d have any answers for him. They hung up the phone and she tried to ignore the feelings that were stirring inside of her.

When Hayden went to bed, she was replaying the image of her and Rob in the basement. She felt aroused, as decided to pleasure herself. Suddenly, she imagined Brent walking in on her. She pictured the look of shock, terror and curiosity on his face. She thought about forcing him between her legs and putting his annoying mouth to good use. She knew it was wrong, but she couldn’t shake the image from her mind. He had the same big doe eyes as Rob, just different colored. Hayden found herself wondering if Brent had ever been intimate with someone. She wondered if Brent would let her touch his body. She knew he had a nice body because he was athletic. She also saw him shirtless several times during the summer months and he was already toned. He was actually really attractive, now that Hayden was thinking about it. He had a nice smile, like Rob.

She let herself get swept up in her fantasies. She wasn’t really attracted to Brent. She just wanted to be with Rob so badly she was willing to settle for his brother. She knew that it was a little twisted to think of her boyfriend’s brother. She figured that it couldn’t hurt anyone as long as she kept those thoughts inside of her head. That was where they belonged. They were a dirty fantasy and they didn’t deserve consideration in the daylight. It was the cold and lonely nights Hayden found herself thinking of anyone but Rob. It still felt weird to try and incorporate him. She felt less guilty fantasizing about Brent because she figured he would be willing. Rob wasn’t yet. Hayden was respecting that. She was also masturbating more than she ever had. She had a need she couldn’t seem to satisfy for herself. She knew what it was though. She needed to feel Rob inside of her. It was all she could think about. Every dream was about him without his clothes on.

She was obsessing over the idea of having him be vulnerable with her. She wanted to take all his bad memories away and replace them with good ones. She wanted to make him enjoy intimacy, the way she did. She wanted to be able to pleasure him and she wanted him to pleasure her. She was ready to take that step. She was just waiting for Rob.
